After the organization of meteorological telecommunications at world and African regional level has been recalled, the situation concerning the operation of the African regional and national networks with reference to WMO recommendations， is reviewed.nThe operation of the various components of the regional plan is then examined - point-to-point circuits, radio broadcasts, networks for assembly of synoptical , ship and aircraft data - on the basis of surveys and controls carried out at various levels.nAfter the shortcomings and deficiencies in the use of equipment and with operation c;the system have been noted, the prospects for improvement are listed. The advantages of circuits using underwater cables and communication satellites, the rental of which is extremely expensive, over HF radio circuits which are costly to instal, are stressed, as is the adaptation to the needs of the national SSB/HF networks.
