Cracking Activity of Zeolite Y Catalysts Synthesized from a South African Kaolinite

Rare earth cation exchanged zeolite Y catalysts, rare earth acidic exchanged zeolite Y catalysts, and ultrastable zeolite Y catalysts with or without exchanged rare earth cations were prepared from ceramic microspheres which contained 24% NaY zeolites. A preliminary evaluation of the gas oil cracking activities of these catalysts and four commercial catalysts was made using a fixed bed reactor. Two of the prepared catalysts were tested also in a microactivity reactor. The synthezied catalysts showed no major differences in conversion performance compared with the commercial products.
