Abrasive Cutting-off Wheel

A diamond-impregnated steel disk for cutting hard, sintered ceramic materials is provided with a number of radial slots which improve cooling and swarf removal. The slots may be inclined up to an angle of 30 deg. The number of slots and their depth depends on the diameter of the disc. The cutting time for a SiC-Si tube with such a slotted rim is reduced from 2 hr to 20 min.
