Energy Modeling with Multiple Objectives and Multiple Actors

A linear programming model of the energy supply system in the Netherlands was extended to handle multiple objectives and multiple actors. The extension helps to determine the margin of energy policy (this includes tradeoff information). The optimal policies of actors and (interest) groups can be determined in a structured way. It is a supply-side model: the final demand of the sectors of the economy is given exogeneously. It is a partial equilibrium model: there is no feedback of the solution (e.g., consumption of natural gas, coal, etc.; investments; balance of trade) to a model of the remainder of the economy.
