摘要

Problems in quantum field theory and statistical mechanics are reviewed. Although eigenvalue bounding techniques are dealt with, these techniques are applied with a view to calculating the critical properties of infinite systems. The approach advocated intends the use of approximate methods to calculate the thermodynamics of large, but finite lattices. Finite size scaling is then used to estimate the bulk system thermodynamics, especially critical phemonena, from the approximate large lattice data. Lower bounding techniques are also addressed. The use of Monte Carlo methods for quantum systems is advocated.
