Ferritic model alloys were investigated to extend the application domain of ferritic, heat resistant steels to higher temperatures. The dependence of the deformation behavior, especially of the creep behavior on structure, stress and temperature was determined by tests and the results serve as a basis for the development of heat resistant alloys. The creep behavior is quantitatively described using a developed creep model. The creep of alloys with low precipitation concentrations (up to 20 vol %) is mainly determined by displacement creep. At higher concentrations the grain deformation and hence the displacement creep are strongly hindered. Deformation charts, calculated on the basis of the obtained results, allow a prediction of the deformation long term behavior, where diffusion creep processes have a special significance.
