摘要

The ideas in the Galerkin method for the solution of radiative transfer in plane parallel participating media are extended to allow for both specularly and diffusely reflecting boundaries. The technique is then utilized to solve the transversal heat transfer in multilayer insulation for aerospace applications. The relative accuracy of design type, approximate formulas are then established, and the effects of specularity are critically examined.
