摘要

A portable unit to be applied in automatic inspection of advanced CFRP structures was developed to assist in artificial defect monitoring along the fatigue test of a complex component. Main features of the system are: pulse echo, water squirter operation; portable frame for X-Y scanning; maximum area of scan 600 mm (X), 400 (Y); 500 mm/sec maximum scanning speed in X direction; data of amplitude and time of flight capture capabilities; real time data acquisition and display; and software to perform data analysis. Flat and focused transducers were successfully tested. Examples of C records illustrate capabilities. A system to monitor defects not accessible from the outside when the structure is fully assembled is also described.
