ELECTROPHILIC CLEAVAGE REACTIONS OF SOME ALKYL TRANSITION METAL SIGMA BONDS

The results of a study of the electrophlllc cleavage of alkylchromlun(III) complexes by bromine is presented.nThe alkyl groups were varied so as to observe the effect of steric and electronic factors on the second-order rate constant. In order to vary these alkyl groups, previously unknown alkylchromlum complexes were isolated and characterized. The results of these studies were used to assign a transition state to this system of reactions.
