摘要

The importance of private sector management policies on aging in the workforce for decisionmakers in the public sector stem from several recent developments: the search for measures to extend the working lives of older Americans in order to address future problems of financing Social Security; concerns about productivity of the workforce; and the emphasis on developing private sector solutions to national problems. The purpose of this paper is twofold. It is intended to provide for business decisionmakers a description of management policy as it exists in other companies and in other countries; to discuss the forces of change affecting policy and practice; and to offer recommendations for the further development of sound management policy on aging. It is also intended to provide for government policymakers information on the state of the art of management policy on aging, and to discuss some of the considerations that enter into the creation of this policy.
