A preliminary survey was conducted of the effects on the proton spin-lattice relaxation time T sub 1 resulting from the presence of controlled low levels of the Kramers ions Ce, Nd, Gd, Dy, and Er in YH sub 2 and LaH/sub 2.25/. This report presents the results for the case of Ce exp 3+ . The Ce ion behaves most differently from Gd exp 3+ , apparently because it is an extremely fast relaxing ion and because it has the smallest magnetic moment of all the rare-earths.
