Distance learning is defined as: any method of presenting training that isinteractive and in which the students are physically separate from the instructor. This research effort focused on the impact of distance learning on the curriculum, types of student-instructor interaction, student interaction with the instructional materials, and on the preparation of faculty and staff for conducting distance learning. A primary goal was to determine if there are specific categories of objectives, task characteristics, or instructional strategies which lend themselves to particular distance learning technologies. This report also details the development, composition and distribution of a distance learning survey and summarizes the results associated with the data analysis.
