Nurse Case Management of Clients in the Air Force Weight Management Program

Purposes were to describe nurse case management effect on a weight managerprogram, compare weight and body fat changes in clients receiving usual services vs. enhanced services, and describe goal attainment. Using a quasi-experimental design, experimental group received case management and military weight program; the control group, military weight program. Data analysis employed paired t-test, two sample t-test, and chi-square analysis. Paired t-tests indicated significant weight loss in experimental group (p .01), but not control group (p =.16). Two sample independent t-tests indicated no difference between group means (t = 57 df= 24, p =58). Paired t-tests indicated significant difference in loss in both groups (p = .01, p=00). Two sample independent t-tests indicated no difference between group means (t= .71 df= 24, p .49). There was no relationship between the two groups on goal attainment x2 ((1, N =26) = .02, p=90).
