LHA(R): Designing the Next Generation of Big Deck Amphibious Assault Ships

摘要

The existing LHA Class Amphibious Assault Ships will reach the end of their expected service lives between 2011 and 2015. Previous analysis has determined that extending the service life of these ships is not operationally suibible or cost effective. This paper provides the details of the ship design process, the design products being developed, and the Integrated Product Team (IPT) that makes it all possible.
