A study of the emissive properties of photocathodes is important in connection with their wide use in electric vacuum devices. A number of problems relating to the emission of photocathodes can be successfully investigated with the aid of the emission electron microscope. The chief of these is the problem of the distribution of photoelectric emission over the surface of cathodes as a function of the spectral composition and intensity of the radiation and the process of cathode fabrication.nOur object was to design and build a sealed glass emission microscope with a resolution of the order of 2 and to carry out systematic investigations of the distribution of integral and spectral sensitivity over the surface of photo cathodes of different types.
