On the Estimation of the Kloosterman Sum

The Kloosterman sum K(m sub 1, m sub 2; n) is considered in the case where n is a prime. An estimate is obtained by using a method of Mordell to express the sum in terms of contour integrals which are in turn put into an accessible form by analytic continuation and use of the Mellin Transform.
