The Defense Metals Information Center was established at Battelle Memorial Institute at the request of the Office of the Director of Defense Research and Engineering to provide Govern¬ment contractors and their suppliers technical assistance and information on titanium, beryllium, magnesium, refractorymetals, high-strength alloys for high-temperature service, corrosion-and oxidation-resistant coatings, and thermal-protection systems.
