摘要

Experiments were made on shallow-water sound propagation on the Arctic continental shelf. The waves were successfully interpreted in terms of normal-mode theory for an ice-water-rediment acoustic system. Current measurements made on Station Alpha in the central Ocean show a clockwise spiral which is not as pronounced as the Ekman spiral for homogenous water.nCurves of postglacial rebound have been prepared for the Great Lakes region and for arctic Canada. They show that the rate of rebound decreases rapidly from the time of local deglaciation toward the present. Moreover, for a given moment of time uplift in proceeding at a greater rate in localities mearer to the former ice center.
