摘要

The report covers recent studies of aluminum salts of substituted benzoic acids for use as high temperature grease thickeners. It has been shown that although aluminum tribenzoate can be prepared by the reaction of aluminum isopropoxide with benzoic acid, it is hydrolytically unstable and, on exposure to moisture, hydrolyzes to aluminum dibenzoate monohydroxide. A literature survey on aluminum salts is included in addition to infrared and thermal gravimetric analysis data on the aluminum salts which have been prepared. (Author)
