Cathode-ray oscillographs are most advantageous and are irreplaceable in particular cases, especially in experimental work. They are practically inertia less, enable us to combine visual observation with photo recording, permit special types of scanning, are simple, and are operationally reliable.nAs for the recording, cathode-ray tubes have the usual disad¬vantages inherent to photo recording, viz., long developing process, relatively expensive photographic materials, lack of control when recording, loading, and handling in the dark.
