Tests with Interlocking and Overlapping Propellers

摘要

Comparative self-propulsion tests with a tanker model propelled in turn by a small single screw, a large single screw, twin screws, interlocking propellers and finally overlapping propellers were carried out together with stress measurements on one blade of the propellers. On the basis of the results the working conditions for the interlocking and the overlapping propellers were in¬vestigated, and the possibilities of these systems and their advantages as compared to the conventional propulsion systems are discussed.
