Elastic Constants of Laminated Carbon Fibre Composite Plates.

Engineering elastic constants,defined with respect to the orthotropic axes of laminae representing unidirectional carbon fibre/epoxy composites,have been used to calculate elastic constants with respect to rotated axes. Laminated plate theory has been used to obtain elastic constants,applicable under in-plane load conditions,for orthotropic midplane-symmetric laminated plates which are composed of such laminae. Graphs for each elastic constant have been constructed for plates with varying percentages of 0,plus or minus 45and 90degree plies. Similar graphs are given for 0,plus or minus 60, 90degree laminated plates. The results show that angleplying and crossplying can alter considerably the elastic properties of a composite plate.
