Control of Meningococcal Meningitis with Meningococcal Vaccines.

This is a review of meningococcal meningitis which includes discussions of its clinical bacteriology, epidemiology, clinical forms of illness, differential diagnosis and therapy. Laboratory diagnosis emphasizes new techniques. Other sections describe immunologic reactions of host and bacterium and the pathology and pathogenesis of the infection. Finally, the current status of chemoprophylaxis and polysaccharide vaccination are discussed. (Author)
