Effect of Proposed B-1Protective Smoke Hood on Visual Psychomotor Performance.

摘要

Potential in-flight emergencies on contemporary aircraft include smoke in the cockpit even without patent fire. In order to avoid eye irritation, the use of a plastic hood to isolate the face of the aviator from the smoke has been proposed. Investigation of visual psychomotor performance indicates that the hood may be marginally satisfactory for very brief time periods, but completely unsatisfactory and potentially hazardous when work for five minutes or more.
