On-Line Vehicle Maintenance Data Management: Model System Software and Data Base Documentation.

The VIMS development model operates on a Data General Nova 800 minicomputer with 32,768 16-bit words of core memory. In addition, the model requires a local CRT, local line-printer or high speed line-printer, disk, tape drive, and teletype console. Although it is not required by the model, a floppy disk unit is available for fast loading of the operating system. The Real-Time Disk Operating System (RDOS) Revision 2 of May 1973 directly supports the system devices listed in Table I. The local CRT and line printer described in Table II are not supported by RDOS and require MITRE-generated software described in Appendix IV. The model's primary I/O device, the Delta Data CRT, is a buffered unit which provides storage capacity for up to 3072 alphanumeric and control characters. With a screen size of 2160 characters, the buffer's size is large enough to store multiple page formats. This gives the unit the ability to process multiple page transactions rapidly.
