Design Study of an Optical System for Panoramic Imagery.

摘要

In meeting requirements for ever larger field angles in training devices, such as for helicopter pilots, tank drivers, etc., a design study of a lens system for panoramic imagery was made. Two designs have been brought to the point where their manufacture can commence: Design A with 50mm image diameter, F/5, elevation angles of +60 and -30 deg; Design B with 95mm image diameter, F/10, and elevation angles of +28 and -15 deg. The optical system consists of two (protected) confocal hyperboloidal mirrors acting as a reversed Gallilean telescope, followed by a refractive system. The system can be used as a camera and as projection lens; it has been designed to withstand the heat of a high power arc lamp. Resolution is about 40 lines/mm, but there is room for further improvements.
