Application of Coatings by High Energy CW Lasers.

摘要

The objective of this program is to apply coatings to the surface of metals using the high energy density heating of CW lasers. The coatings are applied by either the laser spray process, in which powder is heated and propelled to the substrate surface for deposition, or by plasma spraying with subsequent laser remelt. This report describes the development of methods for carrying out and analyzing these processes, the selection of materials, and the early experimental results. The kinetics of laser spraying of aluminum oxide in air are reported. (Author)
