摘要

This report documents the results of a study to evaluate the potential of eutectic composite materials for use in electronic, optical and other devices. The composite materials may be a combination of metal-metal, metal-semiconductor, semiconductor-semiconductor, semiconductor-insulator, or insulator-insulator classes of materials. Device concepts, based on eutectic composites, were given preliminary technical and economic evaluation; brief descriptions of promising deveices are listed. Eutectic-based cold cathode and display devices were evaluated by experiments to determine the performance of a prototype cathode device and to determine the design requirements for fabrication of a diode-type display.
