An Evaluation of Human Thermal Models for the Study of Immersion Hypothermia Protection Equipment

This report presents an evaluation of mathematical models of a man in a cold environment. The models are evaluated for their ability to predict the effectiveness of anti-exposure equipment use during cold water immersion. The evaluation is done by comparison of model results to those observed during in vivo cold immersions with a wide range of anti-exposure equipment. The models evaluated are those, available in the literature, which employ a metabolic rate control submodel. Model results obtained with modified and experimental submodels are discussed. (Author)
