The Navy Energy Siting (NES) code was developed to determine, at various naval sites, the optimum mix of alternate energy and commercially purchased energy that will meet all the site's energy demands. The optimum mix meets the energy demands within given site constraints at the lowest cost. The code handles three types of energy demands: electricity, space heating and hot water (combined), and process steam. Alternate energy models are designed to satisfy a single demand, with the exception of a cogeneration model which can satisfy two energy demands concurrently.
