摘要

Scanning Kinetic Spectroscopy (SKS) is a new method for efficiently unravelling sequence of elementary surface processes on well-characterized single crystal substrates. This method involves the combination of a thermal sweep of a surface receiving reactant in a molecular beam with a multiplex-mass spectrometric analysis of desorbed products and scattered reactant molecules. Combined with the use of deuterium labelling for observation of the deuterium kinetic isotope effect, SKS is a rapid and incisive tool for analysis of surface reaction channels. Examples of the use of SKS for the study of CH3OH and C2H5OH surface fragmentation on Ni(111) are given.
