摘要

The systems studied (in Computational/modeling and/or experimental research) included NaCl-structure (naturally occurring) TiC, Ti/C superlattices and (111) single crystal faces of Ti reacted with CO. The interest in titanium carbide is based on its importance as a high temperature material, combining high melting point, hardness, heat resistance and light weight. Our research was aimed at seeing the feasibility for growing and characterizing artificial superlattices of titanium carbides and comparing their properties to that of naturally occurring titanium carbide which is a cubic metallic conductor. Keywords: Carbon Monoxide; Titanium; Carbon; Sodium Chloride; Titanium Carbide.
