Using a serving Navy officer sample an attempt was made to reproduce the results of previous research into the attitudes of male officers from all three Services. The main independent variables were career stage and serving location. Present results confirmed the claim that the Canberra serving officers report lower job and job-related satisfaction and generally lower morale than their counterparts serving elsewhere. However present results also suggested that the main focus of these effects occurred in Late career (20 years +) instead of Middle career (14 to 19 years) as claimed in the previous research.
