Sud-Chemie, Linde Start Production Of Bioethanol from Cereal Straw

Munich-Sud-Chemie and Linde said they have begun production of second generation bioethanol from cereal straw at a new pilot plant in Sud-Chemie's research center in Munich, Germany (PCN, 12 May 08, p 3). The pilot plant will use lignocellulosic biomass to produce up to 2 t/y of bioethanol fuel. Construction of a larger demonstration plant to produce several thousand tons of bioethanol each year, is expected to start in the near future.
