Processes for the pretreatment of rice straw using TiO2, and processes for the production of saccharides and bioethanol using the same

PURPOSE: A pretreatment process for lignocellulose-based biomass using an optical catalyst is provided to efficiently produce bioethanol and to reduce environmental contamination due to chemical substances. CONSTITUTION: A pretreatment process for lignocellulose-based biomass using an optical catalyst decomposes lignin by irradiating light to lignocellulose-based biomass in the presence of an optical catalyst. The pretreatment process comprises the steps of: (a) dipping the lignocellulose-based biomass in a photocatalytic dispersion; and (b) irradiating ultraviolet rays to the lignocellulose-based biomass.
