PET/CT: Defining value to patients and health systems

As US health care reform is being implemented, it has become imperative that we demonstrate the value of PET/CT imaging to patients and health care systems. Value can be defined as the cost of delivering patient-related outcomes. However, value is not just about the cost alone; it also incorporates the patient and health care system perspectives to improve the quality of life of patients and their outcomes, delivering the most appropriate care, safely and efficiently, to the patient's satisfaction.
