The Japanese parliament has passsed a bill regulatin the use of genetically modified organisms The GMO usage law expected ot take effect next year is aimed at protection biological diversity from the potential risks posed by GMOs and provides Japan with a legal framework to ratify the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.
