Set fair for increase

With the new year just around the corner, Phosphorus & Potassium asked the world's major potash producers for their views on global and regional sales prospects for 1997 and the longer term, the impact these developments will have on their activitiesand what they are doing to upgrade their products and the service to their customers. Spain's Grupo Potasas' Chief Executive Officer, Juan Pedro Gomez Jaen, is very optimistic for 1997, following this year's less than satisfactory level of demand. He believes the recovery in potash consumption, which started in 1994 and continued in 1995, has stayed dormant during the current year due to several reasons: climatic conditions in the USA and in some European countries; financial problems in Brazil; and structural problems in the CIS, among others.
