摘要

The quantization of light can be viewed as the asso ciation of a quantized simple harmonic oscillator with each mode of the electromagnetic field. This association was made in the papers of Dirac [1] and Fermi [2] in response to works from Plank [3] and Einstein [4], which were themselves concerned with the ultraviolet catastrophe of the black body spectrum and the photoelectron effect respectively.
