UK heavy oil prospects mixed

Norway’s state-controlled Statoil has again delayed a decision on developing the UK’s 200mn-300mn bl Bressay heavy oil field. The firm says a simpler development may be possible follow-ing well testing from the nearby 250mn bl Bentley field operated by UK heavy oil specialist Xcite Energy. Statoil had expected to make a final investment decision on Bressay next year. The firm is continuing with its 55,000 b/d Mari-ner development, which adjoins Bres-say and received government approval in February.
