DSM EXPANDS DYNEEMA POLYETHYLENE FIBERS

DSM High Performance Fibers has announced a new round of capacity expansion for its Dyneema polyethylene fiber, and may build a new plant in the United States. It says the market is growing even faster than it anticipated.The expansion comes on top of a 400 mt/yr debottlenecking at DSM's Heerlen, Netherlands, plant. It will boost Dyneema capacity to 1900 mt/yr by the end of the year.The company will also build anew 600 mt/yr line, its fourth at Heerlen that will come on stream this year. This will lift total fiber capacity to 25002600 mt/yr.
