摘要

Complex embryological origin of the inferior vena cava leads to a wide variety of venous anomalies. However, anomalous drainage of the inferior vena cava into the portal vein has not been reported in the literature. This was identified during transcatheter closure of a patent ductus arteriosus in an adult. The iliac veins joined to form the inferior vena cava, received both the renal veins, coursed normally until the first lumbar vertebra, and then turned right to drain into the portal vein (Fig. 1).
