If it's not already too late, can I start this month's PITA Affairs by wishing everybody a Happy New Year? Without doubt, 2009 saw some of the most difficult business conditions many of us have ever seen and, whilst simply changing the year is unlikely to have a significant impact, let us hope that 2010 sees the start of an improving business climate for the UK Paper Industry. The year started on a positive note with news of the reawakening of the Saica Project on the outskirts of Manchester. There is no doubt that the decision to site a second, new 'World Class' Paper Machine in the UK (the first being Palm Paper) breathes new life into our industry and raises the profile of UK Paper Making globally.
