Tata Chem full-year net dips 52%

TATA Chemicals has posted a net profit of Rs 452.05 crore for the year ended March 31, 2009, a fall of 52 per cent from Rs 949.18 crore the preceding fiscal. Total income more than doubled to Rs 8,399 crore from Rs 4,075.63 crore in 2007-08. "This has been a challenging year for businesses all over and our case is no different. In some markets for soda ash, we are seeing pressure on volumes and prices. Due to a diverse portfolio spread across agriculture, household and industrial sectors, we are well placed," said Mr R. Mukundan, Managing Director Tata Chemicals, at a press conference here on Thursday.
