Remember the "He slimed me" line from the 1984 Ghostbusters movie? Nematodes seem a long way from that movie'sghosts coating would-be captors with oozing slime. In a sense, though, a new Bayer CropScience biological nematode-control product sometimes evokes this analogy. Poncho/Votivo - slated for a 2011 commercial launch in corn and soybeans - differs from broadcast and seed-applied nematicides. It doesn't directly kill nematodes but controls them by blocking root receptors nematodes use to find roots.
