Study of Properties of Shampoos Containing Whey of Cow Milk

摘要

Whey, which is a waste in the dairy industry, more and more often, is considered as a valuable raw material for further processing. For the sake of chemical composition (whey contains lactose, proteins, fats, lactic acid, B group Vitamins and mineral salts), it can be also a natural source of valuable cosmetic ingredients. In this work, properties of Shampoos containing ultra-filtrate of the cow milk whey were investigated. An influence of the concentration and the kind of the whey (acid, acid-rennet and rennet) on quality of cosmetics was examined. On the basis of the results obtained it can be conclude that the cow milk whey can be used as a valuable ingredient of Shampoos. The addition of whey of different kinds and concentrations, has an effect on functional properties of the Shampoos, such as consistency, pH and foaming ability. The highest viscosity was achieved for the Shampoo containing acid-rennet whey. Moreover, the products obtained show good conditioning properties.
