The Indian food processing industry is estimated to be valued at US 74 billion dollar and is poised to grow to US 140 billion dollar by 2015. Processed food exports have also been rising from the country. The exports'of processed food has been increasing at a CAGR ot 7 percent from 2007-2010, despite decline in exports due to current global economic recession. To achieve sustainability in growth of the food processing industry, sustainability of agriculture production is crucial, and this could be attained only through equitable agriculture production, value added processing, and management of post harvest losses.
