摘要

We have investigated excitation characteristics of Eu{sup}(2+) ions doped Ba{sub}(1-x)Eu{sub}xMgAl{sub}10O{sub}17 (BAM:Eu{sup}(2+)) phosphor by the measurements of vacuum ultraviolet excitation spectra with synchrotron radiation and the first-principles calculation. The luminescence bands are observed at about 245 and 450 nm, which originate from the host lattice and the Eu{sup}(2+) ions in BAM:Eu{sup}(2+), respectively. The excitation spectra monitored at 449-nm emission band show two main structures peaking at 243 and 310 nm, as well as a significant absorption band at about 200 nm. The absorption edge of the host lattice at 180 nm is almost independent of Eu concentration. Electronic state calculations for different Eu{sup}(2+) sites indicate the contribution of the mO site to the 200-nm structure.
