摘要

The sorption of zinc was studied by using a red alga Hypnea valentiae. The influence of different operating parameters viz. pH, temperature, sorbent dosages, initial concentrations of zinc in solution and contact time on the removal of zinc was studied. The maximum removal of zinc occurred at pH 5.6 and temperature 29.1°C for a sorbent dosage of 6.1 g/L for an initial concentration of zinc solution of 54 mg/L and contact time of 23.5 min. The results were modeled by response surface methodology (RSM), which determines the maximum sorption of zinc as a function of the above five independent variables and the optimum values for the efficient sorption of zinc were obtained. A coefficient of determination R2 value 0.9755 shows the fitness of RSM in this work.
