Firstly, a test sample is dried and its weight loss determined in relation to time elapsed and a sample measurement curve of its moisture over time is plotted. Secondly, the sample curve is compared with reference curves of earlier measured samples of material dried in actual driers. From this data, a data record belonging to the sample curve agreeing closest with the reference curve is made, which contains the drive parameters for drying from which the reference curve comes. The drier with which the material should be dried is set with the derived operating parameters and driven with these.
